Personal Information I Collect

When you visit the Websites, I automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Websites, I collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Websites, and information about how you interact with the Websites. I refer to this automatically collected information as “Device Information.”

I collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Websites, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

I use Device Information for:

  • Functionality: To recognize you on my Websites and recognize your previously selected preferences, including your preferred language and your location.
  • Advertising: To collect information about your visit, the content you viewed, the links you followed, and information about your web browser, device, and IP address. I sometimes share limited aspects of this data with third parties for advertising purposes.
  • Affiliate Marketing: To track which member of my affiliate team referred you to me for the purpose of granting commissions to them if you purchase from me.

Cookies:

When you visit my Websites, I use cookies to enhance your experience and to ensure compliance with cookie consent laws.   • If you leave a comment on my Websites, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
  • If you visit my login page, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
  • If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

You can set your browser not to accept cookies, and http://www.allaboutcookies.org/ tells you how to remove cookies from your browser. Please note that I do not alter my Websites’ data collection and use practices when I see a Do Not Track signal from your browser. 

Provided Information:

I also collect data you provide to me directly. I refer to the data you provide as “Provided Information.” I collect and process data you provide when you:

  • Register online or place an order for any of my products or services.
  • Voluntarily complete a customer survey, provide feedback, or submit a testimonial on any of my message boards, via my contact form, or via email.
  • Provide your email address in exchange for access to a free resource.
  • Sign up for my email newsletter or subscribe to any of my regular content.
  • Submit an intake form or application form for any of my services or programs.
  • Leave a comment on the Websites.

The Provided Information I collect may include:

  • Personal identification information (name, email address, phone number, etc.).
  • Billing information (billing address, shipping address, payment information, including credit card numbers, etc.).
  • Business information (name of your business, business model, revenue levels, business goals).
  • Comments data (data you provide in the comments form, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent string to help with spam detection).
  • Gravatar information (if applicable): An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Media:

If you upload images to the Websites, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the Websites can download and extract any location data from images on the Websites.

When I talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, I am talking both about Device Information and Provided Information.

 

How I Use Your Personal Information

I use the Provided Information that I collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Websites (including processing your payment information, delivering products, providing services, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, I use Provided Information to: 

  • Communicate with you; 
  • Screen my orders for potential risk or fraud;
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with me, provide you with information or advertising relating to my products or services;
  • Share testimonials for promotional purposes; and 
  • To display and moderate visitor comments. If approved, your profile picture (if linked to Gravatar) may be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

I use the Device Information that I collect to help me screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize my Websites (for example, by generating analytics about how my customers browse and interact with the Websites, and to assess the success of my marketing and advertising campaigns). I also use Device Information to track affiliate referrals for the purpose of granting commissions to my affiliates.

 

How I Share Your Personal Information 

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

I share your Personal Information with third parties to help me use your Personal Information, as described above. How I Store Your Data

Comments Retention:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

User Data Retention:

For users that register on the Websites (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). The Websites’ administrators can also see and edit that information.

Of course, no computer network or data transmission on the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure and so you submit your information at your own risk.

I will maintain your Personal Information for my records unless and until you ask me to delete this information.

 

Third-Party Websites

My privacy policy applies only to my Websites. I am not responsible for the data collection, privacy practices or policies of any third-party site to which I may provide a link or that may link to my Websites. Social Media Platforms:
I may collect and store data through social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky, when you interact with my content or engage with me on those platforms. These platforms are governed by their own privacy policies, and I recommend reviewing them to understand how they handle your data. I do not control how these platforms collect or process your personal information, but I may use the data gathered through these platforms for marketing, engagement, or customer service purposes.

Social Media Scheduling and Management Tools:

I use third-party services to schedule and manage my social media posts. These include CinchShare, Metricool, and Canva. These tools may collect data about your interactions with my posts, such as clicks, comments, or engagement, to optimize content delivery and track performance. They are subject to their own privacy policies, and I encourage you to review them to understand how they handle your personal information.

 

Embedded Content

Articles on the Websites may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. These embedded third-party sites will have their own privacy policies and could collect data.

 

Email Marketing

If you make a purchase on the Websites, download a free resource in exchange for your email address, and/or opt in to receive emails, you agree to receive email communications from the Websites, including but not limited to newsletters, Website updates, promotions, and other announcements and correspondence. I am not responsible for the receipt of any such emails. You are responsible for ensuring that my email address(es) are not blocked or forwarded to your spam folder.

You have the right at any time to stop me from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you opt to unsubscribe from receiving emails, you understand that you may no longer receive information or updates from the Websites, including promotions or product updates.
